WHAT IS TEMPERATURE-CONTROLLED SHIPPING?
This is a service option that protects your wine purchases from exposure to high temperatures in the warmer months - and low temperatures in the colder months. Choosing this option (along with optional ice packs in the summer) at checkout helps to ensure that your wine arrives to you in top condition.
This service, along with optional ice packs, is recommended during hotter or colder months.
DOES THIS SHIPPING METHOD TAKE LONGER?
YES. Protecting your wine comes with a small time penalty, but we assure you, it's well worth it!
Our Temp-Controlled (TC) fleet leaves our temperature-controlled warehouse (where your wines and your Lockers are kept as they await shipping) every Friday. Your TC truck will then take as long as 10 days to hand your wine off to the covert wine carrier that will deliver the wine to you.
DO I NEED ICE PACKS?
If you chose optional ice packs, for an added measure of protection (recommended in hot states), they'll be inserted at the end of the TC truck's journey. The ice packs will help to protect your wine for the final leg of its journey. Note that each wine bottle will also be wrapped in a protective sleeve at this time, to provide protection for the wine label.
Be sure to select the "Add ice packs to my order" option at checkout and your orders will be fully protected for the entire journey.
WHY ISN'T TEMPERATURE-CONTROLLED SHIPPING AVAILABLE IN MY STATE?
If TC isn't available during checkout, it is because you like in a state (AZ, CA, ID, MT, ND, NV, OR, WA or WY) where TC isn't necessary. Ground Shipping moves swiftly enough that extreme temperature exposure isn't a risk. The timeframe for the above states is 2-3 business days and all other states typically take 4-6 business days.
Please note that during hotter months, optional ice packs are strongly recommended for residents of AZ, CA, ID, MT, ND, NV, OR, WA and WY. Be sure to select the "Add ice packs to my order" option at checkout and your orders will be fully protected for the entire journey.
CAN I TRACK MY ORDER AS USUAL?
Tracking works a little differently for orders that utilize our temperature-controlled shipping. You'll know that your order is safe aboard our refrigerated fleet when you receive an email with your tracking number. While it is on board a refrigerated truck (up to 10 days), you won't be able to track the progress of your order. We keep the location Top Secret while en route.
When we place ice packs inside the box and hand it off to one of our shipping carriers for the final leg of its cooled journey, you'll see that the tracking will begin to update.
